Some designers believe that structure of wire is the most important factor in design, even more important than material of core.

An example shows the physical structure of wire can affect on operation is: when wrapping two fibers with each other, electricity and self-induction level of wire will be significantly decreased. But if let they closely parallel to each other, the sound quality will be different.

In structure of wire, the phenomenon of “out side effect” is an interaction between fibers is one of the main reasons causing decreased quality of sound of wire. A frequency signal is as high as it runs on fiber’s surface and is as small as when passing through the center of fiber. An outer side effect alters the nature of wire at different frequencies. This effect can make sound lost its detail and depth.

"Out skin effect" handling technology is an insulation cover between fibers. Each fiber will be same on natural electricity. Because these fibers are too small; therefore, it must be added many fibers together according to a quite freely order so that the core is large enough and hold resistance on low.

A problem that wires made from many small fibers are not insulated often get caught is a signal of easy to "jump" from this one to another if wires are twisted together. Due to an out side effect, signal tends to run from outside of core and move to another. Surface of each wire plays a role as a small electrical circuit with electricity and diode effect.

Fibers in wire can be also born from magnetic field and these ones will interact each other. When a current runs through fiber, there will be a magnetic field being born around it. It can affect on signal and causes poor sound. Some wire configurations can reduce a magnetic interaction between fibers by arranging these fibers around a central electricity core and make them be away from each other out.

Making wire by yourself


Wires are formed quite simply compared with audio equipment others in the whole of loudspeaker system. With handy persons, it is not difficult to make a set of interconnect and good speaker cable. The most difficulty is to find a good quality material.

To make wire by yourself, you can go to shops selling wire as rolls (role) by meter. Buying wires are made available from manufacturers, you will have a wire with similar quality or less than the same good one a bit, but the price is cheaper.

The second way is to find out kinds of fiber which is good quality material by you. Although they are not designed for audio, but it maybe creates some very exciting self-made products. Many people used some wire such as: silver-plated wire for military, cable CAT5 for computer network, and so on to make interconnect and speaker cable. The result is very satisfactory. Sound of self-made wire is also as well as the mid-class goods at average price.

Experience for buying wire


Wire has many kinds because there are many manufacturers. Now, it is not easy for audio players in Viet Nam to find out pairs of wire with high quality at reasonable price.
When buying wire, you need to determine how the wire will be used so that you can choose right type and technical requirement for each type. If you find interconnect, you should determine the distance needed to sort out CD, preampli and Power at first. Then, you should choose type of wire to avoid buying a wire which is too long (expensive), or too short (hard to use) when coordinated with audio system. Interconnect for digital link (from CD transport to DAC) is a special wire manufactured separately; therefore, you should buy right one will be better. If your system has balance output/input, but you sort devices near each other, you can use copper or silver electric wire. This is a right basic comment; however, it is not suitable in all cases, you must experience before you decide to buy.

Each of interconnect, speaker cable has a separate "sound quality", therefore you must try to collaborate many different types for a system to gain the best result. Many audio players have experience in using sound characteristics of wire to rebalance sound for system. For example, using silver wire for set of slightly dark and lacking detail, using OFC copper wire for set of sound natural light to balance the range of sound from which get the best result.
